This bright looking, tax and MOTexempt, 1974 Yamaha XS500 has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 3432 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks.
PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES........ As you can see this bike has a few parts missing – mirrors and battery being the most obvious. There are a few rust spotsand a small dent in the tank but otherwise this is quite a clean and bright example.
BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS......... The wheels are straight but there are a few rust spots. The forks and yokes look straight with good chrome. The tail light assy is good as are the headlight and bowl. Instruments and switches look ok.. The paintwork is quite bright with some small marks, fuel tank looks useably clean inside. The seat base is in good condition throughout. The indicators are tidy. The chain guard is tidy. Both mud guards are solid. The standard exhaust is solid. The engine is cosmetically clean. Sadly the engine is seized, hopefully it will be through standing around forever but we have not inspected the engine internally so we have no idea why/how it has seized.
