1979 Yamaha XS1100F Unregistered US Import Classic Running Restoration Project
This well-respected and much sought-after Tax & MOT exempt 1979 Yamaha XS1100F has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours.
PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES........As you can see this bike has a few parts missing – Front indicators, l/h side panel, grab rail & rear brake pedal being the most obvious. It has stood a while, so the battery is flat, tyres & seat cover are perished & tank is mucky inside. Sadly the round headlight doesn’t fit & is secured with 1/one bolt.
The wheels are straight with nice clean alloy rims, good discs, calipers & working front master cylinder. Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome & clean alloy. Mudguards are both solid. Taillight assy is good. Instruments & switches look great. Carburettors are free sliding off the twist grip. Exhaust is a 4:1 system but seems solid. Seat base is covered in surface rust but solid. Rear Indicators are tidy.
The engine is cosmetically clean BUT BEST OF ALL when we hooked it up to a good battery & fed it fresh fuel,it fires, starts, runs & revs but it is obvious the carbs need attention.
