1972 Triumph TR6C 650 Trophy Unregistered US Import Classic Running Restoration Project
This well-respected, and very much sought-after Tax & MOT exempt 1972 Triumph TR6C 650 Trophy has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 11840 miles and has been in dry storage for a considerable time have helped maintain its boyish good looks.
As you may or may not know, here at DK Motorcycles we have very little knowledge or experience with these classic British bikes but luckily you aficionados usually put us right!......1/one such chap advised that this is a desert Sled competition bike that someone has fitted lower pipes & higher handlebars to. Beyond these modifications the bike is remarkably original & nearly complete missing just the battery.
This is the actual bike you are bidding on – Not library pictures from 51 years ago & it is every bit as nice as it looks here.....A great find!
The wheels look straight with nice clean chrome rims, good hubs & brake plates. Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome. Mudguards are both solid & are tidy. Taillight assy is good as are the headlight & hangers. Instruments & switches look good. Carburettor is free sliding off the twist grip. Paintwork is slightly faded but solid, fuel tank is useably clean inside and has just minor dents/marks & scratches in the original paint. Exhausts are solid. Seat base is in very good condition throughout.
The engine is cosmetically very clean, it turns over nicely off the kick starter – sounds/feels great & has compression – we have had it firing/running on easystart spray but the carburettor & fuel system obviously need attention.
