1979 Yamaha DT125F Unregistered US Import Barn Find Classic Restoration Project
This well-respected, very rare and much sought after 1979 Yamaha DT125F has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 1847 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks.
As you can see this bike has a few parts missing – ball end off the brake lever being the most obvious. The LH side panel has a small crack and is held on via cable tie. There are a few rust scabs in the otherwise bright paint.
The wheels are straight with nice chrome rims and working brakes. The forks and yokes look straight with good chrome and the gators are intact. The tail light assy is good as are the headlight and bowl. Instruments are slightly loose but look ok and switches move freely. The carburettors are free sliding off the twist grip. The paintwork is bright but has a few marks, fuel tank is useably clean inside. The indicators are tidy. The chain guard is tidy. Both mud guards are straight and solid. The standard exhaust is solid.
The engine is cosmetically clean. BEST OF ALL when we fed it some fresh fuel and gave it a good kick we had it firing/running & revving but the fuel system & carbs will need attention.
